Shining Together:
Empowering Hong Kong's Cross-Cultural Youth

A 3-year university-led initiative (March 2024 – February 2027) dedicated to building a future where every young person’s mental well-being is supported through research-informed action.

The Opportunity:
Hong Kong's Cross-Cultural Future

Hong Kong’s continued prosperity relies on the potential of all its youth. As the only growing segment of the city’s youth population, the vibrant and diverse non-Chinese community — including those of South Asian, other Asian, and mixed heritage—is a vital part of this future. We believe every young person is an asset to Hong Kong.

However, through our work at The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, we recognized that while support systems exist, the specific mental health needs, cultural contexts, and life-stage challenges of non-Chinese youth aged 15-24 are often under-addressed.

Our Response:
A Targeted Mental Health Initiative

The Jockey Club Shining Together with Cross-Cultural Youth Project is a dedicated, three-year initiative designed to fill this void. Our purpose is to provide culturally sensitive, targeted, and evidence-based support to ensure every young person has the foundation to thrive.
